Youtube Music Hero's - How Viral Music Videos are making Musicians famous

There is a new wave of musicians who are quickly gaining momentum promoting their music via video. Andy McKee's music is a prime example. "Drifting" the video in this blog,is a three minute instrumental song that has gotten him over 11 million views. No more than 14 months ago Andy McKee was no different than you. A musician with a dream. A Musician like the millions of others in every city in America. Now just a few months later Andy and his music are famous having received over 30 millions views for his videos, a record contract and his dream being realized.

Are you using video to promote your music? The times have changes quickly and if you are not then you are not doing all you can to promote your stuff.

I have started a new site for musicians to specifically do what Andy McKee has done. Quite frankly with the information that I share in Monthly Video Cash you can do it wihout a lot of time or effort. Check out this site and let me know what you think.

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW - "SISTER TRISH"

Sister Trish

These guys bring it hard, fast, and in your face. They really know how to rock. Metal and hard rock fans of all sorts would be able to appreciate the lighting riffs and heavy, driving rythms. Think of Godsmack turned up to the next level and you have Sister Trish. What I like is that Neil (or Col.Droop) doesn't stick with one type of vocals. He mixes it up with screaming, singing, talking, and yelling- creating an complete experience through their music to pump up the crowd. Keep it up guys!

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW - "FAR FROM PHOENIX"

Far From Phoenix

Today I'm checking out "Far From Phoenix." These guys bring cutting metal guitars to hardcore beats with lyrics full of emotional depth. Duel vocal styles keep the listeners attention and the emotions fresh. Already these Indiana boys have played with bands such as Atreyu, Haste the Day, and It Dies Today. Also combined with an incredibly well designed Myspace page- these guys know where they want out of life and are taking the right steps to accomplish their goals. The energy these guys put into their work comes through in the quality of their recording.

Destined for the big stage- check these guys out to get a taste of a future generation of rockers at www.myspace.com/farfromphoenix

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW! - 6 SHOT 7

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW! - 6 SHOT 7

"6 Shot 7"

Somewhere in the wrong part of town there's a club where the bikes parked outside can give you a feeling that the regulars inside wouldn't appreciate the new summer line-up at Banana Republic as much as you do. A place you would normally pass right by if it wasn't for a sound forgotten by modern pop radio.A blend of sounds old and new, 6 Shot 7 bring the rockuncomfortably close and in your face. Blues guitar mixes with Gothlyrics and creates a southern fried- heavy driven "Mug rock." Aslow and steady rhythm drives the mood deep and Ross's vocalsremind me of the missing link between Jim Morrison and Glen Danzig.Check out their latest stuff at

These guys are flat out good!!!

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW - THROG

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW - THROG

THROG
http://www.myspace.com/THROGROCKS

http://www.throgrocks.com

Throg comes accross as a fun ole time rock and roll band. It's Neal Young meets Jefferson Airplane meets Buffalo Springfield . On "You've got to know" the Young analogy particularly the vocals is scary close. The two separate however with the stronger more ripping guitar licks woven throughout.

They slow things down a bit with "Hope" but the melody is just as compelling with its rock and roll root. They pull off power ballads with grace and ease.

This band moves into a lot of areas however. That is what I found so captivating. In "Red Hot Lipstick Kisses" they deliver a high octane Molly Hatchett like rollicking party. Wow what versatility. Put the roof down and let's start cruising!

Frank Porter lead guitarist can flat out play the strings off. His strong guitar rivals any rock and roll mainstream act out there today. They are working on a full CD so put them in your favorites and watch for more music coming from these guys.

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW - HARPITALLICA

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW - HARPITALLICA

http://www.harptallica.com/

Ashley Toman is a genious. At least in my eyes she is. First of all the very notion of playing Metallica via the harp is as innovative as you will see on Myspace or any space for that matter. Secondly (and most importantly) Harpitallica's music is melodic, beautiful, soothing and most listenable. (Even if you know nothing about the harp).

The cover of the Metallica music takes an active ear to find the tune. But that is a good thing. It isn't so much a Metallica cover as it is an adaptation, a merging of the musical genres that creates a most soothing and interesting listening experience.

When their CD comes out I am buying. It is that good. Harpitallica....thank you for the innovative creation that you are producing. It is a musical lighthouse in a sea of sameness.

MYSPACE MUSIC REVIEW - PAULINE TAYLOR

Pauline Taylor

http://www.myspace.com/paulinetaylor

There is one word that I think of when I hear Pauline…smooth. This woman is full of soul with a bit of a folk edge. She has low vocal tones sounding at times like a young Karen carpenter or Tracy Chapman with a British accent. Her song "We Dream" is probably one of my favorites. There are some very creative lyrics that you'll want to stick in your back pocket to quote later and the piano in this one is mixes in really well. I also love the feel of "My open heart".

There is a real Johnny Cash like honesty and even though it brings you low, you still get that uplifting soft southern feeling while listening. "Solo flying mystery" is a great acoustic track with some really pleasant percussion and beautiful harmonies. It builds up really nice with some light piano and acoustic guitar bringing it back down to a perfect ending. Pauline definitely knows what she's doing with her style and I hope we continue hear more of her in the future.
